Calamity

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

It is unfortunate, but one of the co-creators of Dungeons & Dragons died a few days ago. I’ve played many a game based off of the D&D license over the years. I am sure that those who know his name thank him for his contributions for inspiring the creation of worlds.

Random Tidbits

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Firstly, I’m glad the Patriots LOST in the SuperBowl. It was karma for running up the score earlier in the regular season on the other teams.

Secondly, I guess the Year of the Rat approaches. I’m not really sure what that means though.

Third, I’ve temporarily moved into a shared apartment.

CES 2008

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

I guess I’ve somewhat experienced my first trade show (on the exibitor side). I got sent to Las Vegas for the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to help support the initial setup of our booth and our suite. This is the third time I’ve been to Vegas and I have to say I am glad that this was purely a business trip where my day consisted of nothing except work, eat, and sleep (and I have to say I didn’t get much of the latter two the past three days). It was very hectic all around, but now I know what sort of things to expect in case I need to do this again next year. I only got about 45 minutes to roam the show floor, but it was kind of interesting just to see how packed everything was. There were definitely a lot of people around. I hope this doesn’t mean I’m going to end up catching some weird virus someone brought with them from the other side of the globe. Either ways, I’ll be glad to be back in California and heading into the office by Tuesday afternoon.

Quick Note

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

I basically just wrapped up the first season of Ah! My Goddess and I definitely like the series. I’m very glad that they are already part-ways into releasing the second season and I hope to be able to get the second season set whenever it is that it comes out.

I actually have a sizeable anime queue to go through. I should definitely be set for at least a month, although I guess that depends on how much I end up burning through over Christmas and New Years. I’m thinking though that probably near February I will probably switch gears and place a high emphasis on music.

The Legend of Zelda

Friday, November 30th, 2007

I finally managed to put in the time to beat The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Final tally was around 47 hours played and I don’t think I came close to getting all of the heart pieces and other items. Basically, “super awesome” doesn’t really even do the game justice. The whole thing was just epic. I probably should have beaten the game sooner, but that’s okay – greatness cannot be rushed.

Next up on the games-to-beat list is probably going to be Super Mario Galaxies. It’s actually been a long time since I’ve beaten anything, so I’m glad I finally got Zelda off my plate. I’m really not even sure how they are going to top it in the future. Zelda and Mario have been basically perfected. That does remind me, I need to go ahead and start the last Metroid Prime as well at some point. It’s good to wrap things up and get that sense of closure.

Late onto the Boat

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

I just started watching Full Metal Alchemist and so far it is definitely good. I have the first half of the Season 1 DVD set and I am sure I will end up plowing through it this weekend. I believe the second half of the Season 1 DVD set is going to be released soon, so I am already looking forward to it. I probably should have started watching this series sooner. So much anime to watch, so little time and money!

I’ve been sick for about a week now, and I’m finally starting to think that I might actually be getting better. Of course, this could just be because I’ve upped the dosage of medication that I’m on. I guess I’ll know tomorrow whether I am actually getting better or not. Hopefully in two or three weeks I should be back to my usual form.

Housing got pushed back to March. Guess it’ll end up being somewhat of a birthday present to myself then. I’m pretty sure it’s not going to really get pushed back again. The problem now is what am I going to do with all my stuff? I need to stop accumulating items since I’m going to end up with no place to store them soon. My room already has too many items cluttering the floor because my closet is already full. I’m probably going to have to buy another container soon so I can get some more floor space.

Now I’ve done it…

…I went and got myself sick. Started feeling it Saturday evening, but it basically hit me and made me miserable on Sunday. What a drag; it probably means I had the bug in me a good while earlier. It was probably a culmination of events, but most importantly, it means that I didn’t take care of myself. I don’t get sick too often anymore these days, which is somewhat ironic because I used to get sick all the time when I was little. Regardless, I guess it serves as a good reminder that I need to take care of myself before worrying too much about other things.

Funny how sometimes insight is gained from the throes of pain. Maybe it is because more intense concentration is required to focus on something in order to block out the pain; which then leads to being able to more readily pierce the clouds that surround us.

Minor Event

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Earthquake today. It was pretty weak though. Not strong enough to make me leave my chair and stop playing TF2. Probably only a 4 or a 5. Don’t think it affected any of my servers at work, so there isn’t anything to be concerned with.

Competition Play

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

So, we’ve essentially had a scrimmage on Monday (8 on 8) and a random, smaller scrimmage on Tuesday (6 on 6). The good news is that we won on Monday. We ended up with a draw on Tuesday. There was definitely some differences between the two days, and I believe we’ve managed to learn a few things. Overall though, we are having fun and basically trying to get things to mesh still. I’m sure there will be some growing pains, but eventually we will get some good team coordination going once people start getting into the flow of things.

It is somewhat brutal to basically have to reserve a good portion of my Monday and Tuesday evenings for league play though. I will have to figure out a way to rest well and eat during the days where we have to play. Otherwise, it’s going to be bad news all around since I don’t generally play well when I am tired and hungry. I’m going to have to explore ways to discipline my schedule again. I’ve been going to bed way too late recently.

It is a little bit disconcerting, but I am starting to run out of anime to watch. I’ll probably have to build up another queue on Netflix to watch the stuff I won’t necessarily buy yet.

Real Quick Note

Happy Birthday!

(You know who you are.)
